We are still where we left you last time - in the remote southwest corner of the DR anchored in a national park. Since we last wrote, we have fully disassembled our motor and all of its associated parts. It's literally in multiple pieces sitting in our extra cabin waiting to be reassembled when we are ready. We have sourced the parts we need for the modifications we'll make (thank you Electric Yacht - the supplier of our motor - they have been unbelievable in assisting) and they are en route to Florida as we type this. They will then get forwarded to Santo Domingo, DR, where they will go through customs. From there, they will make their way to the tiny town of Pedernales that sits on the Haiti border about an hour away from us. When we say we're remote, maybe this will help give you a picture - the mail only gets delivered once a week on Monday afternoons!

Thank you to our friends, Tom, Jeff, Ed, Charlie, and Chris for each taking time out of their busy lives to help us get the parts shipped down to the DR.

We finally made it to Pedernales today to scope out the town, figure out where our package would hopefully end up, buy gas for our dinghy, grab a few groceries, and buy a SIM card so that we could take care of some important internet things. We decided to take the dinghy all the way to Pedernales, which is about 12 or so nautical miles away. It was either an hour in the dinghy or an hour on the back of a couple of motorcycles (moto taxis) traversing by land. Rather than pay a relatively hefty price for the moto taxi rides, we chose to take the dinghy, which worked out well albeit a little bumpy and wet on the ride home thanks to the wind picking up for the afternoon. We managed to accomplish everything on our list, except find fresh fruits & veggies, eggs, or flour. We did manage to get our hands on some milk, popcorn kernels (the kind you pop over the stove....not the convenient kind in microwaveable packages, of course), a few canned goods, lollipops (we love candy!), and pringles! We'll count that as a success.

Given the state of our pantry as you can imagine, we have gotten creative with our food. We are making various goods like bread, crackers, and hummus all from scratch. We've been brewing our own ginger beer and mixing in various flavors, such as hibiscus, as well as fermenting our own fruit wines. We have sprouts growing too!

Otherwise, we have enjoyed morning walks with our coffee on the beach and a lot of relaxation. We are still in awe of the beautiful water here. The colors here are something neither of us have really seen before. And we can see the sea floor in its every detail with water depths over 40 feet. We'll continue to soak up the sun, beach, and saltwater for as long as we're stuck in paradise!

Thanks to our trip to Pedernales today, we were able to grab a SIM card. With that, we were able to upload a new video!

We'll continue to upload videos when we have the chance and send them your way. We'll also keep you updated as to our progress with getting our parts and the motor reassembled.

Thanks to everyone that has reached out!

Much love,

Keith & Becca
