How is it almost the end of February already?! Time flies! We've been keeping busy since the holidays. We sailed around Guadeloupe in January and had a great time.

We made our way from The Saints, where we spent Christmas and NYE, to the main island, then further east to the outlying island of Marie Galante. We enjoyed it all, but sadly we both became ill. It was a bit of a medical mystery as we were sick back-to-back, which would make us think that we spread the illness from one to the other. However, we had completely different symptoms. Becca had an identical illness to the one she had in Guatemala, which was consistent with dengue fever - high fever, back pain, headache with pain behind the eyes, followed by diffuse sweating, then extreme weakness and fatigue. (For our medical field friends, thankfully no hemorrhagic symptoms if this really was her second bout of it). Keith did have fever, but also GI symptoms and none of the other symptoms Becca had. We nursed ourselves back to health on the boat without seeking a medical clinic on the island, so no testing was done and we shall never know the answer to our Guadeloupe medical mystery.

We spent a week at the end of January with Becca's parents on the main island, then quickly made our way north to Antigua. We heard a fellow sailor there was looking to offload his Monitor windvane (self-steering piece of equipment) at a very low price and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to get our hands on it. After arrival, we procured the Monitor and spent a few days installing it on Vagari. Keith's parents flew in and we spent a week visiting with them. We feel grateful to have family visit us throughout the Caribbean.

Antigua has been a gem! There are beaches everywhere for Bosun to run on and plenty of short hikes. Lately, it's been extremely windy here (and in much of the Caribbean), so we haven't moved the boat to many anchorages. We are currently in Deep Bay, Antigua. The postcard above is from a short, yet steep, hike up to an old fort overlooking the bay. We are currently waiting for what looks like a good weather window this weekend/early next week for a jump up to Barbuda.

In addition to relaxing and a few small boat projects, we've made a couple of videos. We also had additional articles published in The Caribbean Compass magazine. We've uploaded everything to the website, but here are direct links as well.

Much love,

Keith & Becca
